Pehuenche

Pehuenche is the solo artist project of Rafael Mesa Zamudio, a musician from Veracruz whose work shows the influence of Mexican popular music, Latin American singing and rhythm and the rock-pop-folk of the 60s, generating a style soaked in organic sounds with a lot of style and form.

Born in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, Rafael began training and developing in the musical field at 8 years old, as a student at the Conservatory of Music of the Universidad Veracruzana, where he studied classical music, violin, singing and guitar.

During his career he has been part of different musical projects, from session musician for other artists, to choral ensembles, orchestras and rock or fusion bands, a path that has led him to step on some of the most important stages of Mexico and Latin America, such as Vive Latino, Catrina, Pal Norte, Coordinate, SXSW, Tecate Comuna, Tajín Summit, Santa Lucia Festival, Rodante Festival, Mexico Au Pied Du Courant in Canada, Marvin Festival, and Machaca 2019, among others.

He has been invited to play in shows by various artists such as Adan Jodorowsky, Carlos Sadness at the Metropolitan Theater, Dorian, Metronomy, Muerdo, Tulipa Ruíz, Juan Pablo Vega, the Amy Winehouse's band, Taburete, Mexican Dubwiser, Flor Amargo, Catfish, Hello Sea Horse, and Miranda, among others.
